It is sure hard to believe that it is already August of 2000 but every once in awhile the weather reminds us that it is summer – but not too often here where we’re close to the beach.  And it’s even harder to believe that we’re still here in this same situation, waiting for the Lord to change our situation regarding Cora’s health.  But we we’re still going, thanks to your faithful prayers, encouragement and support.  We are sure learning the importance of the Body of Christ as we experience other parts of the Body (you!) caring for us in so many ways.

This month I thought I would give you a brief update on what is happening in our lives right now because the Lord has been caring for us in many ways.  First of all let me report on our housing situation.  It now appears certain that the sale of the apartments will be final at the end of August.  We first heard the apartments would be converted into low income condos but that didn’t work out.  Next we heard they would be low income rentals which gave us some concern regarding noise, etc.  But the final word is they will be normal rentals managed by a company that has pretty strict rules regarding noise, how many people can live in the apartments, etc.  So that was a BIG relief to us with Cora being stuck here all the time. We should now be set for one more year at this apartment with the rent going up only $150 per month for which we are very thankful.

My job with the Seed Company has also been a special provision from the Lord.  I need to learn about computer hardware and networks which is not my first love, but I know it will be good for me. I am also thankful that I am able to contribute more directly to the work of Bible translation.  The people working with the Seed Company are very appreciative of me and patient with my learning curve so I am blessed.  Please pray that I can learn this technology quickly.  The next issue of In Other Words contains a six page article on the Seed Company.  Be sure to read it - you’ll be blessed!  If you don’t get In Other Words, let me know and I’ll get you signed up.

Jenny has really enjoyed her new job as pianist at the EV Free church that is just up the street from our apartment.  She loves the people and has felt a great freedom to worship as she plays.  At the end of this month she will get real busy as she once again will be an accompanist at Vanguard University.  She will also be taking a music class at a local community college.

But life for Cora has not changed too much.  It was such a blessing when her spirit was renewed a couple of months ago, but the pain and monotony of the situation has again taken its toll.  So we would ask you to please concentrate your prayers on her, that the Lord would be pleased to deliver her from all her enemies.

Once again we thank you so much for your faithfulness in standing with us.  May the Lord richly bless you in the days ahead.
